Prosecute so-called corrupt NDC officials – Ayine dares NPP government

A former Deputy Attorney General under the erstwhile NDC administration, Dominic Ayine has challenged the Akufo-Addo government to go ahead and prosecute NDC officials who are suspected to be complicit in corruption cases.

Addressing the media at his maiden presser with Journalists in Accra, President Akufo-Addo said a lot of alleged cases of corruption have been brought to his attention, but indicated that these cases needed to be thoroughly investigated to gather concrete evidence for prosecution.

Mr. Akufo-Addo said the cases that would be put before the court “are going to be brought because they have been well-researched and there is a strong evidence of wrongdoing which a court of law can reliably use to convict.”

However, reacting to President Akufo-Addo’s resolve to fight against corruption and the prosecution of the corrupt cases, Mr. Ayine said the state can drag the so-called corrupt officials to the court having satisfied itself that the evidence adduced against them will have the merits to be tried in court.

“…If any government official was involved in any of those transactions and took monies or did anything that you know did not inure to the benefit of the people of this country and that constitutes an offence, they should bring the charges and let us see,” he told Accra-based Citi FM.
