Police arrest four alleged members of cocoa stealing syndicate

Tepa (Ash), May 19, GNA- The Tepa police in the Ahafo-Ano North District of Ashanti on Thursday arrested four people believed to be members of a cocoa stealing syndicate at Maabang near Tepa. They were alleged to have stolen dry cocoa beans from the depot of the Akuafo Adamfo Marketing Company, a licensed cocoa buying company operating in the district.

Their names were given as Wilberforce Atta Duodu, 45, a purchasing clerk of Kuapa Kokoo Limited at Maabang, Kwaku Frank, 26, a labourer, Iddrisu Ahmed, 66, a night watchman, both of Akuafo Adamfo Marketing Company and Abukari Alhassan, 15, son of Ahmed. Police Superintendent Mr Yaw Opoku, the Ahafo-Ano North District Police Commander, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency, said the suspects had been granted police enquiry bail pending further investigations into the theft. 19 May 04
