Two file nominations to contest NPP Bawku Central primary.

Bawku (U/E) May 19, GNA- Madam Hawa Yakubu, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central and Mr. Abubaakar Jibreel Ustarz, a social worker, have filed their nominations to contest the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary in the constituency.

The nomination of Mr. Mohammed Tahiru Nambe, final year student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was rejected because he could not meet the nomination deadline.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Bawku, the Constituency Secretary, Mr. Abdulai Tanimu, said the primary would be held in June.

He said the National Executive Committee (NEC) would have to vet the contestants before they are presented to the constituency delegates’ congress.

Madam Yakubu, in a telephone interview, said democracy was being giving a further boost within the NPP to ensure the selection of qualified and mature parliamentary candidates.

She said, “as a seasoned politician I am confident that my people would elect me to carry on with the area’s development, and called on the delegates to ensure peace during the primary.
