Breman Asikuma (C/R), May 19, GNA- The Government has voted five billion cedis from the HIPC Fund for the construction of the Brakwa/Odoben road in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district of the Central region.

Mr P.C. Appiah-Ofori, Member of Parliament for the area who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Asikuma on Wednesday said contract has been awarded and work would begin in July this year.

He said the government was determined to ensure that all roads, which were in deplorable state in the district, would be reconstructed to facilitate fast movement of goods and services.

The MP stated that the 1.74 kilometre street roads of Breman Asikuma would soon be awarded on contract , adding that evaluation works had been completed and biding processes would be opened in Cape Coast for the projects to take off in June.

Mr Appiah-Ofori said rehabilitation work has also begun on the Nyakrom/ Breman Asikuma road, adding that the construction of the road would go a long way to help farmers to bring their farm produce to the marketing centres.

He called on the people to give their maximum support to the NPP government since it is the only one, which could reduce poverty in the country.

On the forthcoming Asikuma-Ododen-Brakwa NPP primaries slated for 30 May, Mr Appiah-Ofori assured the supporters to remain calm in the face of provocation from other members who are not with him. He said by so doing, the constituency would win more supporters and defeat their opponents.
