MP bemoans poor sanitation at Lapaz

Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikoi North, Fuseni Issah, has said the entire Lapaz township needs to be sanitised as the rate of armed robbery in the area was alarming.

Several armed robbery incidents have been recorded in the area which falls under the MP’s jurisdiction, including the recent shooting of two police officers who were on duty.

The MP narrated that he was recently a victim of robbery in the area in broad day light while in traffic.

“My phone, iPad, diary and other items were stolen in traffic as I was engaged by two guys. One managed to take my items while I was speaking to the other”, he stated on Citi FM’s Big Issue programme at the weekend

According to him, there is a big problem in the area, and urged calm as the police search for robbers who shot the policemen on Thursday, July 13, 2017.

He stressed that, efforts are being put in place to retool the police service to perform the duties well.

“The police must also ensure the culture of maintenance as they are unable to maintain vehicles and other materials provided them in the past,” he added.

The service he said should also be more friendly and proactive.
