Five dead in fatal Asesewa accident

Five persons are reported dead in a fatal accident which occurred along the Odumase-Assesewa road in the Eastern region.

Three of the deceased died on the spot while two others died at the St. Martin De-Porres Hospital at Agomanya, according to an eyewitness.

According to the eyewitness Emmanuel Tetteh, the accident occurred Thursday afternoon when a Tipper Truck Vehicle collided head-on with a Hyundai Vehicle conveying traders and maize. The Truck driver veered of his lane and crashed with the Hyundai vehicle.

The driver and two women in the front seat of the Hyundai died on the spot while two out of the four people who were rushed to the St. Martin de Porres Hospital, Agormanya died at the facility later.

The other two are in critical condition but receiving treatment.

The driver of the Tipper truck fled into the bush shortly after accident and angry residents in the area attempted to set the Tipper Truck ablaze.

The Oterkpolu Police have deposited the remains of the deceased at the morgue.
