Aowin-Suaman District appeals for an examination centre

Dadieso (W/R) May 13, GNA- An appeal has gone to the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to open an examination centre in the Aowin-Suaman district to alleviate the hardships facing pupils and students in the area

Mr. Ashford Adams, Headmaster of Dadieso Senior Secondary School and a Chief Supervisor of WAEC said examination candidates had to travel over long distances to centres in the Juabeso-Bia district.

He said because of the bad roads in the area, candidates arrived at the centre already tired thereby affecting their performance. Mr. Adams was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Dadieso on Wednesday on problems facing examination candidates in the district.

He said parents of those who could not make the journey daily had to look for temporary accommodation for their wards.

Such students, he said, had to prepare their own meals and go round looking for water, leaving them little or no time to do revision. Mr. Adams said the Dadieso Secondary School had no reliable electricity, making it difficult to do computer classes.

He appealed to the district Assembly and the Parent Teacher Association to provide the school with a photocopier and urged them to solve the acute accommodation problem facing the teachers.

The headmaster said he was grateful to Odeneho Nana Brentum IV and the people, for providing the school with a three-unit classroom block.
