Kyebi Abontendomhemaa to be buried on Saturday May 15

Accra, May 13, GNA – Burial takes place at the Kyebi Royal Mausoleum on Saturday May 15 of Obaapanin Yeboakua, Abontendomhemaa of Kyebi.

The Abontendomhemaa, 86, was known in private life as Mrs Adeline Akufo-Addo and was the widow of Mr Justice Edward Akufo-Addo, former Chief Justice and President of the Second Republic. A statement issued in Accra on Thursday and signed by Mr Ferdinand O. Ayim Special Assistant to the Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, said the body would be laid in state from Thursday, May 13 to Saturday, May 15.

It said the three-day funeral would be climaxed on Saturday with a grand funeral at Eseho, Kyebi with the Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin sitting in state to receive sympathizers.

The late Abontendomhemaa, who was also the First Lady during the Second Republic, was born on December 17, 1917 to Nana Sir Ofori Atta, Okyenhene and Madam Agnes Dodua of Kyebi.

She died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on March 21, 2004 and was the mother of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mamaa Amoafi Akufo-Addo, Mrs Marigold Oye Cablye-Mustapha and Mr Edward Akufo-Addo.
