Tema, May 12, GNA- A 30-year old bathhouse attendant in Tema has been remanded in prison custody by a Tema Circuit Court “B” for allegedly defiling a five-year old girl.
George Awuku Chidi, pleaded not guilty and the court presided over by Mr Stephen K. Teye remanded him till May 25.
Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that on May 6, this year, at about 1600 hours, the victim with her father went to Chidi’s bathhouse to have their bath but the father went inside to shower while he left the victim with Chidi to bathe her for him.
The father then peeped through the window of Chidi’s kiosk and found him inside in his kiosk with the victim.
The prosecutor said the father became suspicious of Chidi’s behaviour, and found him nervous in explaining why they were there together.
The father was not convinced and reported the matter to Women and Juvenile Unit of the Police Service in Tema and Chidi was arrested. Meanwhile the presiding Judge, Mr Stephen Teye has asked the Prosecutor to present victims father in court to explain why he should leave his five-year old girl in the hands of a man to bathe her.
