NPP contestant dies

Kade, May 10, GNA – One of the four contestants who are challenging the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Kade in the Eastern Region is dead.

He is Mr. Kofi Opong Asante, 49 an Accra-based tour operator.

Breaking the news to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the constituency office at Kade, Mr. Kwaku Sarpong, constituency Chairman said the late Mr. Asante had already filed his application and paid the required deposit.

The Chairman said he was seriously campaigning for the primaries, which is yet to take place when news reached the party that he has suddenly died in Accra.

Mr. Sarpong said Mr. Asante’s death was a great loss to the party since he was someone who showed a lot of commitment and dedication.
