Kan-Dapaah off to ITU Conference

Accra, May 3, GNA – Mr Albert Kan-Dapaah, Minister of Communications is leading a 10-member Ghana delegation to this year’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom Africa 2004 conference to be held in Cairo from May 4 to May 8.

The conference is on the theme: “Access Africa” and it would discuss and decide the future path of telecommunications across the Continent.

A statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr Issah Yahaya, Deputy Director, Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation of the Ministry, said the conference would examine topical areas central to Africa’s growth such as management of Internet resources.

The Minister apart from chairing one of the important meetings would also speak at World Dialogue on Regulations Expert Forum and hold discussions with ITU institutions.

Two Ghanaian youth selected through an essay competition would also be participating in a youth forum as part of the conference. The release noted that there would be an exhibition to feature the latest technology products and services including mobile solutions, Operators, Network Access Providers and Computer Hardware and Software and Telecommunication Consumers.
