Accra, April 29, GNA – The Police are looking for three persons, who mixed gari with red oil and sold it as “Lobfrings”, a special drug, to Mr Kwadwo Boakye, a Businessman, at 150 million cedis.
The three: Patrick Mottee, Prince Edusei and one Ocansey are on the run while the fourth accomplice, Helen Lieva was put before an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday.
Lieva, who was charged with conspiracy to commit crime and defrauding by false pretence, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of 200 million cedis with two sureties – one to be justified.
The Court presided over by Mrs Elizabeth Ankumah ordered Lieva to deposit her passport with the Police and adjourned the case to May 27. The Prosecution said Edusei called Mr Boakye on telephone late last year and told him that he wanted “Lobfrings” to buy and that someone in Germany would call to inform him about the quantity required. Mr Boakye was directed to see Ocansey at Tema for the supply of the drug.
The Prosecution said Mr Boakye was told to meet his partners at La Palm Beach Hotel with samples of the drug he had collected from Ocansey. At the hotel Boakye met Lieva, who tested the samples and approved of them.
Mr Boakye then went back to Tema to buy 150 million cedis worth of the drug and sent it to the hotel but he could not find anybody. He reported the matter to the Police and Lieva was arrested on April 23. When the drugs were tested they were found to be gari mixed red oil. 29 April 04
