Ahafo-Ano North to get 18,000 bags of fertiliser

Tepa (Ash), April 26, GNA – The Ahafo-Ano North district directorate of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) is to take delivery of 18,000 bags of special cocoa fertiliser known as ‘Asase Wura’ for distribution to cocoa farmers in the district.

Mr Samuel Ankomah, the Deputy District Director of MOFA, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Tepa at the weekend said, already 16,350 bags of the fertiliser had been delivered leaving the remaining 1,650 to be delivered by the end of the week.

He said as soon as the necessary logistics were received, the directorate would start the distribution of the special fertiliser to the farmers at the approved prices and assist them to apply the hi-tech fertiliser on their farms.

Mr Ankomah appealed to cocoa farmers in the district to take advantage of the availability of the hi-tech to increase their yields. He said last year, the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) supplied the district with 9,000 bags of the fertiliser and therefore the 100 per cent increase this year was welcome. 26 April 04
