MP supports victims of tidal waves

The Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has gone to the rescue of victims of last Sunday’s tidal wave destruction in the Ketu South Municipality.

Mr. Kwetey provided some relief items including mosquito nets, mats, cups among other items to help the victims cope with life for the time being.

The MP was there in person with the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, Edem Agbenorwu, Works and Housing Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea as well as officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation, NADMO to assess the extent of damage and sympathize with the people for their predicaments.

About 1526 people and 175 households in some communities along the coast in the Municipality were rendered homeless following destructions by tidal waves that swept through the coast last Sunday night.

Affected communities in the municipality include Blekusu, Gavedzi, Amudzinu and Salakope.

The affected persons are currently being housed in Blekusu Mina AMA Zion and Blekusu RC School with their belonging following destructions to their places of residence.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea has assured the people that NADMO was bringing in more relief items to support their plight.

Meanwhile, Seven Sea Company Limited, a salt mining company in the area has also donated some items to the victims. The items included20bags of rice, gallons of cooking, salt, and tomatoes.
