I faced internal opposition – Cephas Arthur

Superintendent Cephas Arthur, a former Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police, has reminded the media that beginning Monday, June 12 he ceases to speak on behalf of the Ghana Police Service.

He has been transferred from the Police Headquarters to serve as the Commander of the East Legon District Command.

His deputy, DSP Sheila Abayie Buckman, is the new Director of Public Affairs.

This was contained in a memo signed by the Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, in the latest reshuffle within the Police Service.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Monday, June 12, he said: “There were several challenges that I faced as the Director of Public Affairs. Some of them came from colleague officers who had issues with some of the things that went public.

“Again, there was the failure of some of the departments within the service to brief the PR team on matters in time. You occasionally would hear matters relating to the Police Service in the media before they even came to us at the PR department. That was a challenge.”
