Works & Housing Minister visits communities affected by tidal waves

Minister of Works and Housing Samuel Atta Akyea has visited communities in the Ketu South Municipality hard-hit by Sunday’s tidal waves.

The sea waves are said to have affected about 186 households, whose occupants have been stranded.

Most of the residents have taken shelter at a basic school in the municipality, 3FM’s Michael Addo reported on Midday News on Monday.

Mr Atta Akyea was at Blekusu and Agavedzi, the two hardest hit communities.

He promised to make arrangements to get displaced residents relocated.

The Abuakwa South Member of Parliament also called on the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to set up a special budget to tackle emergency issues like what has befallen residents in Ketu South.

The waves are reported to have started at 2:30 am on Sunday.

The main Denu-Keta road is said to have been taken over by the sea.

Residents are calling for immediate intervention from government.
