Danger looms in Achimota as child beggars take over highway

Children who go begging with their parents at Achimota near the old overhead bridge risk losing their lives as they move carelessly along the highway.

The children together with the mothers have taken over the median of the Achimota-Nsawam highway where they sit dangerously while cars and other heavy vehicles speed past them.

What makes the situation more worrying is the fact that a vehicle could easily veer off the road and crash them to death as has been recorded in other parts of the country where hawkers were ran over by trucks.

City authorities must be proactive in evicting these beggars from the dangerous location to ensure lives are preserved.
