Lack of access to water escalated Kingdom Books warehouse fire – GNFS

Deputy Chief Fire officer in-charge of operations, Julius Kuunuor has stated that lack of accessible water is one of the reasons fire tenders were initially unable to control the fire at the Kingdom Books warehouse.

According to him, they had to rely on other sources for water to enable to combat the situation of the fire.

“We had the call at 6:33hours and the Prampram fire service plant got here at 6:38hrs, we realized that the fire was really alight so we had to call for assistance because getting water was a challenge; we had to seek assistance from TOR and other private units to control the fire”.

On Sunday morning fire engulfed the warehouse of Kingdom Books and Stationery close of the Free Zones Enclave at Prampram in the Greater Accra region.

The fire is said to have started somewhere between 5:00 and 6:00 am.

The warehouse serves as the main storage depot of the stationery firm in Ghana.
