Botchwey Committee report won’t be public – NDC

The Director of Communications of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Solomon Nkansah, has revealed the party will not make the findings of the Kwesi Botchwey Committee report available to the public.

According to him, the report is meant for only NDC members and the leadership of the party because it is meant to deal with issues within the party.

The committee, which was formed after the NDC’s defeat in last year’s polls, was tasked to find out the causes of the party’s defeat.

It is expected to release the report this week.

However, speaking in an interview with Accra News’ Naa Atswei Oduro on Tuesday May 30, Mr Nkansah revealed that the report would only be circulated among members of the party.

He said: “It is the NDC that suffered the defeat in the elections and, accordingly, we have instructed a committee to research into the causes of our defeat. And so why should we make the report available to non-members of the party?

“We need the report to guide us going forward and so why should we arm our opponents by telling them what is contained in the report. Don’t forget that the report will give directions and how to approach future elections, and so it will not be the best decision to make it available to the entire public.”
