Support my wife to save mothers, babies – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to support his wife Rebecca Akufo-Addo to raise funds for the construction of a new mother and baby unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The first lady on Sunday May, 28 held a fund raising ceremony in Kumasi for the project. The fundraiser follows an earlier event in Accra.

The president in a tweet lauded his wife for the initiative and asked Ghanaians to support the First Lady in her project.
“I am proud of what @rakufoaddo is doing to assist Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Let us all support her to #SaveAChildSaveAMother.”

The new KATH Mother and Baby Unit when completed is expected to reduce the mortality rate of mother and baby at the hospital by up to 60 per cent.
