SDA donates to Children’s Home

Biadan (B/A) April 12, GNA – Pastor (Dr) Andrews Lawrence Ewool, Ministerial Secretary of West Central Africa Division of Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Easter Monday presented six bales of second-hand clothing and one million cedis to the inmates of the Children’s Home at Biadan, near Berekum in Brong Ahafo.

The clothing, worth 18 million cedis, was part of 18 bales worth 40 million cedis donated by Adventist Development Relief Agency (ADRA) for distribution to selected groups in Berekum district.

Pastor (Dr.) Ewool, who led a team of Pastors of the Church, including Pastor James Kwaku Badu, President of Mid-West Conference, said it had always been the desire of the church to help the needy both spiritually and materially.

Pastor Ewool, who arrived from Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, called on Christians to help make life better for the poor and the needy. Receiving the items, Miss Rosemary Yorke, Director of the Home, expressed gratitude to the Church for the “marvellous gift” and appealed to non-governmental organisations and philanthropists to come to the aid of the Home.

Speaking to the Press, Miss Yorke said nine of the 40 inmates were students at Berekum Secondary School and others in JSS and Kindergarten and appealed for sponsorship to support their education.

She said the Home applied for scholarships from the Government last year and expressed the hope for a favourable response.

In another development, Pastor Ewool who undertook a two-week evangelisation work at Berekum and won 142 souls into the church also presented 11 bales of the second-hand clothing to the converts and baptised them.

The Ghanaian international evangelist advised the converts not to turn back and to love their neighbours as Christ did for mankind. Elder Stephen Sylvester Amoah of Berekum branch of the Church, who received the items on behalf of the converts, thanked ADRA for the package.
