Three Women Fight Off Robbers

The bravery of the wife and two daughters of an Appeal Court Judge saved their residence from being robbed last Monday night.
The wife of Mr Justice B.T. Aryeetey, and their two daughters, aged 26 and 23, prevented the two armed robbers from entering the main building of their Cantonments, Accra residence by locking them out.
The attack happened at about 9pm, barely five minutes after Justice Aryeetey had left the house. The robbers had gained entrance through the first to two doors, and tried to force the second door open from outside amidst threats. The three women threw themselves behind the door and struggled frantically until they succeeded in locking it with a key.
Narrating the incident to the ?Times? on Monday, the younger daughter (name withheld) said she heard an unusual noise at the back entrance and upon verification, found a male figure climbing the steps towards the main door leading into the house from the back yard, which was then unlocked.
Realising danger, she screamed for help, and her mother and elder sister rushed to join her. By then, the two men had reached the door and were trying to enter.
?We were not frightened. We threw ourselves behind the door and struggled to close it,? she said. As the robbers put pressure to force the door open, Mrs Aryeetey and her daughters marshalled all their energies to keep it closed while looking for the key which they finally found and locked it.
When I realised that help was not coming from our neighbours, I dashed out of the house through the front door and made for the Cantonments Police Station, leaving behind my mother and sister and the two robbers,? she said. But before the police patrol team got to the residence, the robbers had fled.
