Opposition Coallition Still Strong – Reform Party

Statesman statement Untrue
The National Reform Party is not happy with some media reports alleging that the recent joint statement issued by the opposition parties was the handiwork of the NDC.

The NRP said the statement, which was delivered on behalf of the parties by GCPP?s Dan Lartey, was the collective decision and opinion of the six opposition parties that included the PNC.

The Statesman Newspaper today reported that there was confusion in the opposition Coalition as the PNC claims that the joint statement was an NDC statement.

That statement severely criticised the N.P.P government and accused it of attempting to create a one party state by cowing state security agencies into submission.

A spokesman for the NRP Dr. David Pessey who was also part of the team that put the statement together debunked the Statesman?s publication. He told JOYNEWS that representatives of all the opposition parties met and took a collective decision on the matters raised in the press statement.

According to Dr. Pessey what the media publications are doing is to divert attention from the issues that have been raised.

Dr. Pessey acknowledged that the NRP had some reservations about portions of the statement but that does not suggest that it was not a collective responsibility by the opposition parties.
