Include us in Planting for Food and Jobs – Poultry farmers

The Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers says it feels left out from government’s Planting for Food and Jobs programme.

The farmers say the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s inability to include the poultry and livestock sector will result in wastages since crops produced under the programme may not be patronised by poultry farmers.

Farmers under the programme will be provided with free seedlings and other agricultural inputs such as fertilisers at reduced prices to enable them produce maize, millet, beans, and other crops in commercial quantities.

Speaking at the launch of the Varium, Neoprime and Poultry Guard products by the Boris B Farms and Veterinary Supplies Ghana Limited in Kumasi on Wednesday, May 24, President of the Ghana National Association of Poultry Farmers, Victor Oppong Adjei, said government must rethink the programme.
