‘Ashawo’ recruiting fetish Priestess busted

Asuobena Komfo renowned fetish priestess at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti region is in the grips of the police for allegedly recruiting prostitutes commonly referred to as “Ashawo’ for various brothels within the Kumasi Metropolis.

Born Nana Ama Serwaa, the suspect is currently in the custody of the Suame police after her phony activities were uncovered by police investigators upon a tip-off.

Police revealed that aside recruiting the young girls in their teen ages for the prostitution, she has also created an avenue for them to practice at her residence by allowing clients to visit and solicit their services.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Ken Yeboah told journalists that a thorough search conducted in the suspect’s house revealed she had 17 bedroom apartments and large quantities of used and unused condoms, fake traditional medicine license bearing Nana Ama Serwaa’s name and other incriminating items.

“During preliminary investigations, the suspect mentioned one Christopher Owusu, 25 years as the person who issued her with the fake licenses .Christopher Owusu was subsequently arrested in his house at Asuofua in the Ashanti Region. His premises were searched and a number capsules and plastic containers containing creams with the inscription Rebec Vanicure and Rebec Man capsules were retrieved. He admitted to issuing Nana Ama Serwaa with the fake license”, he revealed.

According to the police Chied, Nana Ama Serwaa has been operating her business without license under the Traditional Medicine practice Act 2000 (Act 575).
