Poor people must stop defending corrupt NDC officials – Abronye DC

Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, alias Abronye DC, has advised poor Ghanaians to stop defending corrupt former government officials who are being investigated by the state security agencies.

According to him, it is so disheartening to see Ghanaians who cannot afford three square meals a day, besieging premises of some state security agencies to offer their support to former government officials assisting in investigations.

Speaking on Atinka TV Morning show, “Ghana Nie” hosted by Bismark Brown Wednesday, Abronye advised Ghanaians to rather support the government to retrieve all stolen monies.

He also ascribed to the assertion in some quarters that the establishment of the Office of Special Prosecutor is being delayed.

In the heat of the 2016 electioneering campaign, then-candidate Nana Akufo-Addo promised to set up the office in a bid to root out the growing levels of public sector corruption.

However, Abronye told Bismark Brown that Ghanaians are vexed about the undue delay in the announcement of the Special Prosecutor as they (Ghanaians) are being bombarded with corruption cases by the media almost on a daily basis.

According to him, the Office of the Special Prosecutor should be established in time to deal with issues like the alleged $1.2 bribery scandal at the Ghana Standards Authority, the alleged missing helicopters at the Ghana Gas company among others.

There are reports that President Akufo-Addo has settled on lawyer Akoto Ampaw as the first person to fill the position of Special Prosecutor.

He is a partner of Akufo-Addo’s law firm, Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co. Mr. Ampaw’s latest case got the Supreme Court to order the EC to release collation sheets to the political parties prior to the December elections.
