A popular galamsey (illegal mining) operator, popularly known as ‘Cash’, at Wassa Japa Aheneboboano in the Wassa Amenfi East District of the Western Region, is on the run after pouring acid on his ex-lover, Naomi Addai.
The incident occurred around 10 pm Tuesday when the victim was escorting her teacher after classes.
According to reports, the suspect, who was lurking in the dark at the time, suddenly emerged and poured acid on the victim, causing severe burns on her body . A maize seller who was also standing close by also sustained severe burns .
The victims are currently responding to treatment at the Wassa Akropong Government Hospital but Cash is on the run.
