Man, 39, arrested for alleged multiple registration

Yendi (N/R), April 10, GNA- A 39-year-old taxi driver, Alhassan Yussif resident in Tamale was arrested by Police at Yendi on Friday for alleged multiple registration.

Briefing newsmen, the Yendi District Police Commander ASP John Ferguson Dzineku, said Yussif was arrested around the Old Gbewaa Palace, which is a restricted area.

ASP Dzineku said when he was searched three new voter ID cards bearing the name and photograph of the suspect with different ID card numbers and polling station numbers were found on him.

He said all the polling stations were in Tamale.

ASP Dzineku said eight old voter ID cards, two citizens ID cards, two pension ID cards and a SSB ID card bearing different names were also found on him. The suspect has since being remanded in Yendi prison by a circuit court at Yendi to reappear on April 15.
