Bechem humiliate Hannah Bissiw, confirm DCE

Reliable information picked up by DAILY GUIDE alleged that the machination by the former deputy minister of Agric, Hanna Bisiw to influence some Tano South Assembly members to vote against the president’s nominee for the District Chief Executive position has failed.

Despite the alleged clandestine move, the assembly members yesterday went ahead and confirmed the DCE nominee, Collins Affohiam.

According to an insider from her camp, the former minister who is related to the nominee vowed to prevent Collins from being confirmed as the DCE because according to her, though they are cousins, the DCE campaigned against her re-election as Member of Parliament for Tano South.

In spite of the first round rejection, the nominee won in the second round. Out of 56 assembly members, 37 voted yes whilst 17 voted against him with two absentees.

Security was tight to forestall any untoward situation during the whole process due to the near violence that almost rocked the second round of voting which was done at the St Joseph College of Education campus.

The Regional Minister, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, used his powers to sack and reconstitute three government appointees who were suspected to have worked against the nominee during the first round of voting that failed to confirm him.

Addressing the house earlier, the minister pleaded with the members to consider the interests and development of the district and confirm the nominee and they listened to him.

Addressing the house after his confirmation, the new DCE appreciated the efforts of the assembly members and thanked them for their loyalty. He promised to work together with them to develop the district asking them to eschew hatred against one another since the process was over. The Member of Parliament for the area, Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere witnessed the process.
