Tema Robbers Adopt New Style

Thieves and robbers in the Tema municipality have now come up with a novel and potentially lethal way of robbing their victims. They now drop deadly live cobras into the vehicles of unsuspecting victims and when these victims panic and run from their vehicles, the robbers would then enter the vehicle under the pretext of killing the snake and rob the victims.

Currently, the Tema police are holding three Nigerians, namely Abubakar Mohammed, Mohammed Rashid and Abdul Karim for using cobra snake in a mysterious robbery last Saturday April 3rd. The cobra is also in the police custody, while a docket is being prepared to take the culprits to court.

Narrating the incident to Free Press at the Tema Community one police station, the commander in charge, Superintendent Angwubutoge Awuni said last Saturday at about 11am, one Mr Tang, a Chinese of the Free Zone in the industrial area told the police that when he was shopping at the Community one market the robbers parked their car behind his and threw the snakes into his vehicle and pulled out his brother who was then in the vehicle and made away with ?800,000. As if all was not well with them, the robbers at 2.30pm on the same day went ahead with their mysterious dealings to attack and rob off another Jonathan Obodai, a trader at the Tema casino and made away with valuable items including cash.

This, however, did not go down well with the police who mobilised their men to hunt for the suspect with the support of the residents. Supt. Awuni said the police did not have it easy as the robbers gave them a tough time leading to series of warning shots. The police finally arrested three of the suspects, but one of them whose name has been difficult to trace managed to escape.
