Government to bulldoze ‘dangerously’ sited fuel stations – Agyarko

All fuel stations sited at unapproved locations across the country would be demolished, Boakye Agyarko, Minister of Energy, has said.

According to him, the time has come for state institutions tasked to monitor the compliance of rules and regulations by fuel stations to review those permits issued to those individuals.

Speaking on day two of the National Policy Summit which started on Monday May 15, Mr Agyarko said: “They have all the permits including the district assembly permits. Now the man has the permit, procured by whatever means we cannot tell. But we have to come back to common sense and insist that there are certain zones within which we will not allow the siting for such dangerous facilities.

“And it comes back to enforcement of rules… I think it is an issue we have to do something about drastically and now.

“Therefore, I have had discussions with NPA and we will go down the chain and review all these matters in terms of how the licences and approvals were given. It should be possible to also begin to dismantle stations that are dangerously located.”
