Twenty-eight teachers receive bicycles as incentives

Aputuogya (Ash), April 5, GNA- Twenty-eight teachers in deprived areas of the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of Ashanti have been presented with a bicycle each to help them get to school on time.

Mrs Gladys Asamani, the District Director of Education, who made the presentation to the teachers said most of them travel long distances to their schools since they could not get accommodation at their stations. The bicycles, which cost 400,000 cedis each and were being sold to them at a subsidised price of 200,000 cedis, were therefore to serve as incentive to teachers to accept postings to the rural areas, she added. A newly appointed circuit supervisor was also presented with a brand new Yamaha motorbike to enable him perform his duties without transportation difficulties.

Mrs Asamani, who presented the motorbike to the supervisor, cautioned the recipients not to sell the bicycles but use them for the purpose for which they were given and also maintain them properly to enable them last longer.

She asked the teachers to let the presentation of the bicycles motivate them to give of their best to help improve upon the level of education in the district.
