Committee lifts ban on bush burning

Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), April 4, GNA -The Dormaa District Anti-Bushfire Committee has lifted the ban on bush burning in the district which was imposed on December last year.

Mr. Chou-En-Lai Paul Ankamah, Chairman of the Committee in a statement signed and issued at Dormaa-Ahenkro, said with the lifting of the ban, farmers have the right to burn their slashed farms. It directed that the farms should be burnt under the supervision of the local fire volunteer squads and the members of the district anti-bushfire committee.

The statement warned that anyone who causes fire deliberately to destroy any property would be punished under the bushfire prevention bye-laws of the Assembly.

The committee and the Assembly expressed their gratitude to all and sundry who, in diverse ways helped to ensure the success of the exercise, it added.
