No extension for national service personnel – NSS

The National Service Scheme has denied reports that it has extended the duration of this year’s national service. Management of the Scheme has consequently asked service personnel and the general public to ignore those reports which have gone viral on social media.

“Management wishes to state unequivocally that there has neither been any such discussion nor decision to extend the period OT notional service this year,” it said in a statement Saturday.

The Scheme said service personnel would end their service on August 31, 2017 and the new batch of personnel would start their service on September 1, 2017. “Management therefore wishes to advise all national service personnel and the general public to be wary of faceless persons who may make financial demands on them for consideration for extension of service.
