Akuffo’s legal knowledge ‘solid’ – EC Chair

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei, has congratulated newly nominated Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, describing her knowledge in law as “solid”.

President Nana Akufo-Addo officially nominated Justice Sophia Akuffo as the next Chief Justice on Friday, 12 May. She will replace Mrs Theodora Georgina Wood who retires on 8 June.

In a congratulatory message, the EC Chair said she believed Mrs Akuffo would lead the judiciary with “wisdom and purpose”.

“I am totally thrilled at the nomination of Her Ladyship Sophia Akuffo JSC as our next Chief Justice. I first met Her Ladyship in 1992 as a young law student at her office at Mobil House where she was General Counsel at the time. Her knowledge of the law is solid. She’s an extremely brilliant woman, with solid credentials and solid integrity. I believe she will lead our judiciary with wisdom and purpose. We pray that God grants her strength, courage, and wisdom. Congratulations, Her Ladyship,” Mrs Osei said in a short statement.
