Pentecost church fights crime with the provision of street lights for Namolo

The Navrongo Central branch of the Pentecost Church in the Upper East Region, has initiated moves to help fight crime in the Namolo community by providing the Community with Street Lights.

The Head Pastor of the Church, Rev. Kojo Anoma and his wife funded the project at the cost of GHc 6,200.00, to provide 34 units of lights to the Namolo Community which hitherto had no street light.

At a short ceremony attended by Deputy Kassena-Nankana Municipal Coordinating Director, Assembly Member for Namolo, Chief of Navrongo and the Tindana of Namolo to commission and hand over to the Community, Rev. Anoma said, providing the Community with Street Lights was a service to mankind and his quota to the Community in which he lives.

He noted that, for the Church to continue to maintain its relevance in society, it is important that children of God give back to society.

“We did this project because, it is our calling and we need to do what God tells us. This gesture is just to give back to society what it has given us. We know that, this gesture will also motivate others to do same for their various communities. We are also celebrating our Silver Jubilee as a Church and we think this is also a way to thank God for holding the Church in Navrongo Central for twenty five years.”

He, however, encouraged the Municipal Assembly to see to the maintenance of the project to ensure that, the people of Namolo are served very well by the lights.

“Distinguished invited Guests, the Church wish to inform the leadership of the Assembly and the Community that, after this project is launched, it has formally been handed over to them as their property and hence its care and maintenance become their responsibility.”

On his part, Assembly member for Namolo, Hon. Kofi Anthonio Mensah commended Rev. Kojo Anoma and his wife for the support to the Community and assured that, the lights will be given the needed care.

Hon. Mensah was very hopeful that the provision of the Street Light will help to fight theft and crime in the area.

“This is a good move by the Pastor, his wife and the Church. They have shown that, the Church is still relevant to the society. Providing these lights will help curb various criminal activities which hitherto went unseen because of the darkness. Now, people cannot steal goats and sheep, people cannot steal motors here too, because now there are street lights everywhere.”

The Church has also provided the community with an alternative mechanized borehole.
