Boxer allegedly knocked down and abandoned by Police Officer

Isaac Aryee, a former national welterweight champion was allegedly knocked down whilst driving a motorbike by a car driven by one officer Aikins of the Mamprobi Police on Wednesday afternoon on the Mortuary Road in Accra.

Some eyewitnesses who spoke to Rainbow Radio Sports said, the officer drove away without attending to the injured boxer who was in critical condition until Aryee was saved by a good samaritan who rushed him to the Korlu-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The boxer who is still on admission suffered a broken neck and that has affected his spinal cord.

In a related development, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) led by their president, Peter Zwennes have paid a visit to Isaac Aryee in hospital and are working with the Police to ensure justice in the matter.
