Television reception to improve in Western Region

Sekondi, March 26, GNA- The Western Region and beyond would by April 30 this year, receive clear television and radio signals following the delivery of three container loads of generators, television and radio transmitters belonging to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC). Mr. Gift Odartey-Mills, the Regional Director of GBC told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on Friday that the equipment formed part of the expansion programme of the corporation.

He said all other improvised television and radio antennas would be removed to maintain the beauty of the skyline.

Mr. Odartey-Mills said Half Assini in the Jomoro District would receive a standby generator for radio and television transmitters while Tarkwa would receive an FM transmitter.

He said inhabitants of Half Assini have since Independence not had access to GBC TV and had relied on Ivorian Television. He said the existing mast was identified to be weak and a new one was being manufactured by GBC technicians in Accra and would be installed at Sekondi as part of the expansion programme.
