MP donates equipment institute

Winneba (C/R), March 24, GNA – The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Mr. Mike Hammah on Monday presented a multi-purpose ‘joromi’ designing machine to the Reverend Father John Vocational Training Institute at Winneba. The machine costing four million cedis was purchased from his MP’s Common Fund.

Mr. Hammah said that the training of the youth to acquire vocational skills by the government is part of its effort to reduce poverty in the country. The MP said that efforts would be made to house the institute at a convenient place in the near future to enable it to take in more students.

The Assemblyman for the area Mr. Kojo Ham urged the students to abstain from pre-marrital sex to avoid contracting the HIV/AIDS disease. He also urged them to study hard to justify the huge investment by their parents. Reverend Sister Annie, Managress of the institute who received the machine said the institute started in 2002 with on three students now has a student population of ….. mostly women. She thanked the MP for his kind gesture and appealed to other philanthropists to emulate the example of Mr. Hammah.
