Rainstorm ripped-off administrative and classroom blocks

Kwahu-Tafo (E/R) March 24 GNA- A severe rainstorm last Saturday ripped-off the roofs of the entire administrative and six-classroom blocks of the Saint Joseph Technical Institute at Kwahu-Tafo in the Kwahu South District.

A number of educational materials, including text and exercise books, stationery, ceiling fans and files worth several millions of cedis were destroyed.

The 240 students in the affected six-classroom block are now writing their second term examination on the veranda and a carpentry workshop. The Principal of the Institute, Mr Albert Kwame Yeboah appealed to the District Assembly, Ghana Education Service, NADMO, the PTA and philanthropists for material assistance to roof the blocks, especially the classrooms before the school begins after the Easter holidays. He said that the carpentry, masonry and electrical departments will need 531.6 million cedis to purchase roofing sheets, cement, woods, nails, iron rods and electrical wires to rehabilitate the blocks.
