I Wanted 30 Goals: Swedru All Blacks Top Scorer Reflects on Season Target as They Seal Premier League Return

Swedru All Blacks striker Rudolf Mensah may be leading the goal-scoring charts, but he says he’s not entirely satisfied, despite helping fire his team back into the Ghana Premier League after a 16-year absence.

Mensah has scored an impressive 24 goals in 25 matches so far this season in the Access Bank Division One League Zone Two. But speaking after All Blacks’ crucial 3-0 win over New Edubiase United, which confirmed their promotion, the forward revealed his personal target was even higher.

“By the grace of God, I have 24 goals and I am leading the goal king chart,” he told reporters. “Personally, my target was to score 30 and over but I think sometimes you win some, you lose some… sometimes you miss certain chances.”

With one game left to play, Mensah still has a chance to edge closer to that ambitious milestone, but his focus remains on the bigger picture. “We are still on course, it’s left with one game, let’s see what God will give to us,” he added.

All Blacks’ return to Ghana’s top flight has sparked celebrations in Swedru, with many describing it as a long-awaited comeback for a once-iconic club. The team’s promotion caps off a remarkable campaign, with Mensah’s goals proving instrumental throughout.

Club officials and fans alike have hailed the striker’s contributions, and his form has already sparked speculation about a potential move to a top-tier side or a call-up to the national team setup.

For now, though, Rudolf Mensah remains grounded and grateful for the success but still chasing personal excellence. And with one game remaining, he might just get the fairytale finish he’s hoping for.
