Industrial Ghanaians to receive between $5,000 and $5 million to establish factories

The government has pledged to give Ghanaians seeking to establish factories under the government’s One District, One Factory programme between 5,000 and five million dollars each as financial support.

Mrs Gifty Ohene-Konadu announced on Thursday at a news conference in Accra that the amount each contractor will receive will be based on the project size and operational categorisation.

In line with that government has disbursed GHC400 million to the One District One Factory Secretariat as its initial commitment to the programme, which is one of the job creation flagship programmes of the Akufo-Addo-led government.

Additionally, the programme has generated 3 billion dollars in investment pledges and commitments from local and foreign investors.

The One District, One Factory was a campaign pledge of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo prior to the 2016 general election which has not culminated into a government project that seeks to establish factories in each of the 216 districts across the country.
