Workers of GLB calls for enhanced salary level

Accra, March 23, GNA – Workers of the Ghana Library Board on Tuesday called on the Ministry of Education to implement the enhanced salary levels as contained in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between management of the GLB, TEWU of TUC and the Local Union. A resolution signed by Mr. Alex Sackitey, Local Union Chairman and Francis Botwey Assistant Secretary said if by March 25, 2004 approval had not been given for the implementation the workers’ would advise themselves.

It said the salary levels stated in Ghana Universal Salary Structure, based on the Price Waterhouse Report for the GLB were full of mistakes.

According to the resolution the workers had been agitating for its corrections since 2001 adding that in spite of the MOU no action had been taken to implement the enhanced levels.

It said while waiting for the deadline, the entire workers throughout the country would wear red bands and hoist red flags in all the premises of the libraries.
