Ghanaian Police Attend Course in Liverpool

Two Deputy Commissioners of the Ghana Police, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, Director of CID and Ms. Joana Sarpong-Mensah, Head of the Forensic Science Laboratory have completed a one-week course in Liverpool.

The course was sponsored by the Forensic Unit of the Merseyside Police Regional Headquarters in preparation for the establishment of Ghana?s High Technology Forensic Investigation Centre.

The Merseyside Association of Ghanaians and Kufuor Consultancy and Associates were instrumental in sourcing the sponsorship.

Among other things, the course enabled the two officers to learn at first hand how scientific support is delivered at crime scenes.

The two officers described the course as very useful and educative.

While in Merseyside, the two officers paid a courtesy call on Councillor Ron Gould (2nd right) Lord Mayor of Liverpool and his wife, Councillor Tina Gould.

The discussions centred on the need for exchange of data among African countries on issues relating to police duties and the development of partnership between Ghana and Liverpool Police.
