Defeat In 2000 Was A Blessing – Mills

The Presidential Candidate of the NDC, Professor John Evans Atta Mills has stressed that his party?s inability to win last general elections has turned out to be a blessing.

He explained that the development has enabled the NDC to see the other side of the coin. The defeat has also enabled NDC to compare its stewardship to that of the ruling NPP government.

Professor Mills made the remark at an open forum organised at the University of Ghana campus on Thursday. The law Professor noted that, although the NDC governments? intention was to govern the state properly during their stewardship, he admitted that in the process, their government made some mistakes as a human institution.

He called on the students to exhibit quality of truth, transparency and objectivity in all that they do, to ensure a peaceful and progressive state. He said an NDC government would put the nation?s interests above other sectional interest.

Prof. Mills was lauded for his speech and even wanted him to continue after he had finished. The forum was chaired by Prof. Kofi Awoonor, a ranking member of NDC and supported by Dr. Nii Josiah Aryee, General Secretary of NDC among other party gurus.
