NDC Ready For 230 Seats

The NDC has said although the Supreme Court?s verdict on the creation of 30 more constituencies for the 2004 general elections is burdensome, the Party will file parliamentary candidates in all 230 constituencies.

Mr. Baba Jamal, NDC Deputy General-Secretary, told EVENING NEWS in Accra yesterday and said.? The financial stress will be too much considering the registration exercise to be undertaken by the EC but we have no option.?

He said the party would established new structures in the newly created constituencies and organise primaries as soon as possible.

Mr. Jamal said even though his party initially opposed the EC?s decision to create the constituencies, it would abide by the Supreme Court?s decision.

Meanwhile the EGLE party has announced that it is still in an electoral alliance with the NDC.

Frances Lokko, National Propaganda Secretary of the party in an interview with the paper said, the party would support the NDC should there be a round off in the general elections.
