Youth urged to participate in communal labour

Assin-Foso (C/R), March 11, GNA – The Assin District Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council (NTOC), Mr. Richard Asiedu, on Tuesday urged the youth to develop the spirit of taking part in communal labour and the sense of patriotism to facilitate the development of the country.

Mr. Asiedu gave the advice when he addressed a cross-section of the youth at Assin Foso on the need for them to get involved in communal labour, especially involving environmental cleanliness.

He said a clean environment gives good health, adding that most diseases could be avoided if our environment was always clean. Mr. Asiedu urged the youth to be careful with their sexual behaviour and lead decent lives so as to avoid the deadly disease HIV/AIDS.

He expressed concern that despite the numerous public education campaigns on the disease, its spread was very high because most people could not control their sexual feelings, and urged the youth to endeavour to abstain completely from pre-marital sex to prolong their life span.

Mr. Asiedu called on parents an guardians to educate their children on the dangers posed by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
