Public cautioned against fake products during festivities

The public have been advised by the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) to seek information on products especially those in cans before buying them for use.

Ashanti Regional Director of GSA, Mr. Samuel Kofi Frimpong is asking the people to be cautious of unwholesome products that flood markets on festive occasions like Easter and Christmas time.

“Apart from our daily routine checks, we are mounting surveillance at this festive occasion at markets places, supermarkets and where we suspect there are unwholesome products”, the regional boss exclusively told mynewsgh.com.

“Unwholesome products such as expired, improper stored, fake drugs, cosmetic, medical devices and household chemicals are dangerous to our health”

Mr. Kofi Frimpong stated expired products increase one’s chance of suffering illness such as diarrhea, headache, stomach creams resulting from microbial or mycotoxin intoxication.

The regional director also stated that labels are importance calling buyers to read information on them for direction and usage.

He advised shop owners to avoid cooking and other activities in their shop since the heat increases products temperature.
