Parental neglect forcing our girls into silent prostitution – Headmistress

Authorities at the Assin North Secondary Technical School in the Central region are bemoaning the growing level of promiscuity among female students in the school.

The girls, they explain easily give in to the sexual advances from men resulting in pregnancies.

Those who get pregnant according to the authorities end up terminating their education as they are not able to overcome the stigma attached to such early pregnancies and deliveries.

Speaking in an interview Ultimate News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Achesmfour , the headmistress of the school Madam Mirian Adjei Amponsem attributed the problem to the shirking of responsibility by some parents leaving the teenage girls with the option of seeking alternative means in meeting their needs.

A lot of them, she added end up engaging in ‘silent prostitution’ as they sleep with men – both students and outsiders for money to fend for themselves.

Madam. Marian Arhin urged parents to exercise high level of responsibility towards their wards as the consequences are dire when such parents choose to shirk their responsibilities.
