Fire burns two vehicles belonging to Bolgatanga Technical Institute

Two vehicles belonging to the Bolgatanga Technical Institute (BOTECH) in the Upper East region were on Thursday evening burnt by fire.

The cause of the fire as at press time was not known but a Bedford truck [Boneshaker] and a 30-seater branded bus were burnt beyond recognition even though fire service personnel were immediately called to the scene to douse the inferno.

Authorities revealed that the bus is the only means of transport for the students while the “Boneshaker” carts food from the market and also used to convey things from the school’s kitchen.

The latest incident comes barely a week after two vehicles belonging to the Metro Mass Transit (MMT) caught fire and burnt beyond repairs at two locations; Kasoa road in the Central region and the other at Odumasua near Tease in the Eastern region.

The bus according to residents, was supposed to pick and drop passengers from Donkorkrom and Kwahu all in the Affram Plains North district of the Eastern Region as part of its daily route operations but caught fire and the cause not immediately known.
